PB – that’s Peanut Butter between us friends 😉

So, it’s time for the Monthly Ingredient Challenge once again and this month’s ingredient was… {drum roll…}

Peanut Butter! {How did you guess..? So clever!}

I love these challenges and love being part of this awesome group of bloggers – you should check out what the rest of our group have whipped up – just click on the link at the bottom of this post {blue froggy icon}.

Now look, peanut butter is a thing of beauty.
Mix it with some chocolate and you probably have the ultimate irresistible treat – I mean, just look at all the Reese’s treats available 😉 {If there is ONE thing in this world that my husband is totally unable to resist, it’s a peanut-buttery-chocolate-treat! You thought I was gonna say me, right 😉 }

It is not quite part of a pure, low carb diet, but hey, every now and then, I say Why Not?? Just make sure you use one without any added sugars.

PB & Dark Choc Power Smoothie

  • Servings: 2
  • Difficulty: super easy
  • Print

You will need:

100 g dark chocolate
1/2 cup hazelnuts
1 tbs sugar-free peanut butter
1 cup coconut milk

Place the chocolate and the hazelnuts in a blender and blitz until it’s all ground up.
Add the peanut butter, coconut milk and a handful of ice and blend until smooth.

Voila – Enjoy!

Not only is this ultra yum, but makes for a great power smoothie when you’re feeling drained.

Filled with coconut & dark chocolate goodness – here are some health benefits you might not know of:

  • Dark choc is actually quite nutritious and contains heaps of iron, magnesium, copper and manganese
  • Dark choc is a very good source of antioxidants
  • Dark choc reduces the risk of heart disease – yes, true story! It’s protective against the oxidation of LDL.
  • Most importantly – dark chocolate may improve brain function! Yes, it keeps your mind sharp due to stimulants such as caffeine and theobromine.
  • Coconut milk contains unique fatty acids that:
    Aids weight loss
    Improves immune function
    Reduces the risk of heart disease
    Improves the condition and health of your hair & skin

So, the bottom line is this: if you want to be sharp, healthy and pretty, drink this smoothie! {;) }

{Just a note: don’t drink this everyday, but rather on the occasion when you’re feeling slumpy or even have a bit of PMS, as it’s quite high in calories.}
